Dolan Ends Littler’s Run Before Facing Humphries
A day after Jermaine Wattimena had stunned Littler with a deciding-leg 115 checkout in the quarter-final of Players Championship 27, Littler again fell short at the same Mattioli Arena venue — beaten 7-4 by Dolan in the semi-final of Players Championship 28. Dolan’s win booked a final against Humphries, who had come through his own semi-final 7-4 against Mike De Decker.

Humphries saw off Dolan 8-6 in the final to complete a hat-trick of Players Championship titles for the season, adding to the ProTour wins he had already banked earlier in 2026. It was a big week for Humphries in Leicester, following the same PC27/PC28 double-header that also produced Wattimena’s all-Dutch final win over Kevin Doets the day before.

The result also has ranking implications: Humphries returns to world No.2 on the PDC Order of Merit, a spot Gian van Veen had taken from himearlier in August. Humphries collected the £15,000 winner’s prize from the £150,000 Players Championship 28 pot, with Dolan taking home £10,000 as runner-up.
